Georgia’s First Fresh Foods Eyeing National Expansion

Gainesville, Georgia-based First Fresh Foods, a provider of fresh-to-market chicken sausage and chicken products, says it is looking to expand nationally after developing its customer base in the Southeast.

First Fresh products are positioned as alternatives to traditional sausage and ready-to-cook chicken products. They are made according to traditional European recipes using 100 percent whole chicken breast. The products are delivered fresh to market, never frozen. In addition, they are made wholly in the U.S. from locally raised, cage-free chicken. The products have no added hormones, MSG, preservatives, fillers or nitrates, are naturally gluten free and all sausages are made in a collagen casing.

“First Fresh believes that customers shouldn’t have to decide between taste and ‘good-for-you’ when shopping for their families. That’s why we developed a product that delivers the best of both worlds,” said William Jennings, CEO of First Fresh Foods. “Our mission is a to provide a ‘Taste for Life’ and do so by using premium all white chicken breast meat in all of our products—so much so that it is the first ingredient on our label.”

The product line includes Breakfast Sausage with Sage, Breakfast Sausage with Maple, Chicken Bratwurst, Mild Italian Chicken Sausage, Hot Italian Chicken Sausage, Chicken Sausage (Dinner Sausage), Chicken Sausage with Habanero Cheese, Chicken Sausage with Havarti Cheese, Ground Italian Chicken, Ground Hot Italian Chicken Sausage, Filet Cutlet, Home-Style Cutlet, Cutlet with Habanero Cheese, Cutlet with Havarti Cheese, Chicken Balls and Golden Medallion Chicken Tenders.

All First Fresh Foods sausage and cutlet products also are made according to halal requirements.

“We see tremendous growth opportunities in the chicken sausage category among Millennials as they prefer products made with poultry that are locally sourced and come in unique or gourmet flavors,” Jennings said. “This, of course, is also true of moms shopping for healthy meals for their families and Baby Boomers who are watching their cholesterol. The First Fresh Foods management team also includes Vice Chairman Alan Habegger, who has more than 50 years of experience in the poultry industry.

First Fresh Foods products currently are found at Publix stores throughout the Southeast in the fresh meat case.
